How much do other landlords spend on mutual exchange? Where do moves get held up? What are teams doing to help them go ahead?
We're bringing those experiences together so you can see how things compare with your own organisation.

What you get back
You'll receive the free Review and a private page comparing your answers with similar landlords. What we can compare depends on your answers and on how many similar organisations take part.
The published Review will be free for everyone to read. The private comparison is for participants, because it uses your own answers.
What the Review covers
Costs and officer time. What landlords pay their providers and how much staff time a completed exchange takes.
The things that hold up a move. How arrears and property condition affect exchanges in practice.
Information from providers. What figures landlords receive about their own tenants.
Finding a swap. Where successful tenant swaps start.
Help with moving. What landlords offer to help a swap happen, including cash incentives, removals and decorating.
Taking part
The main section takes about five minutes. There's an optional further section afterwards if you'd like to share more. You can finish after the main section and your response will still count.
The survey is open. We’ll announce the closing date in advance. We will send the Review and private comparisons once they are ready.
How we share the findings
We publish combined findings, without linking a named landlord to its answers. We only publish a figure when at least five organisations have contributed to it.
Why MoveMutual is asking
House Exchange closed in July 2026 and the options open to landlords have narrowed. It seemed a good moment to ask how mutual exchange is actually working.
We're a small company exploring whether a new mutual exchange service would be useful. Your answers will help us decide whether to develop a paid service. We might find there's no case for one, and we'll publish the Review whatever we decide.
No supplier is sponsoring the Review. At the end of the survey, you can choose whether to hear more about our work or talk through your results with us. Both are optional.
